However, the digital payments ecosystem needs support for increasing its reach and usage. A specific support area would be Point of Sale (POS) machines, which is perhaps the biggest channel today, to compete against cash transactions.
At the same time, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) system could emerge as a cheaper and more scalable alternative to POS machines, because of the rising penetration of smartphones and internet connectivity. Budget 2018 can possibly provide the

You’ll soon be able to take a huge trip down memory lane when it comes to Apple’s computer efforts. The Computer History Museum has announced that the source code for the Lisa, Apple’s computer that predated the Mac, has been recovered and is being reviewed by Apple itself.
The announcement was made by Al Kossow, a Software Curator at the Computer History Museum. Kossow says that source code for both the operating system and applications has been recovered. Once that code is finished being reviewed by Apple, the Computer History Museum will make the code available sometime in 2018.
While you’ve been able to run emulators of the Lisa operating system before, this is notable as it’s not just a third-party hack solution, but rather Apple is directly involved and the full code will be available for everyone.
The Lisa was released back in 1983 for $10,000, which as Gizmodo notes, is around $25,000 when adjusted for inflation. The machine was notable for being the first to feature a graphical user interface and support for a mouse, but ultimately only sold 10,000 units.
Despite its flop on the market, the Lisa is a major piece of Apple history. It’s largely the reason Steve Jobs left Apple and caused a huge rift between Jobs and Microsoft’s Bill Gates. After Lisa’s rather public failure, Jobs founded NeXT Computer – which was ultimately acquired by Apple, bringing him back to the company.
ISRO on Friday announced that it would launch 31 satellites, including India's Cartosat-2 series earth observation spacecraft, in a single mission onboard its Polar rocket on January 10.
The mission will be the first Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) mission after the unsuccessful launch of navigation satellite IRNSS-1H in August.
"The launch is tentatively scheduled for January 10," a senior Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) official said.
The mission's main payload would be India's Cartosat-2 series earth observation satellite. The Mission Readiness Review committee and Launch Authorization Board is scheduled to meet in the coming days would take the final call, he said.
PSLV-C40 will be used for the launch from the spaceport in Andhra Pradesh's Sriharikota, about 100 km from Chennai. The mission would be a combination of 28 nano-satellites from foreign countries, including Finland and the US, one micro and nano-satellite from India along with one Cartosat satellite, the official said.
Very few are blessed with the ability to walk the talk, especially if the talk is big. Virat Kohli's team-mate, confidante and partner-in-success over the last year, R Ashwin exudes a sense of admiration when he talks about his captain. "Many a time, I have seen him say 'Okay, don't worry, I'll make the runs'. It could be even 400 runs and he would say he will make it. That's an amazing sense of self-confidence for someone to have. And he's got extraordinary skill to back that confidence."
But confidence is a fickle companion, probably the ficklest of them all. There is a need for recognition, constant reassurance and an unending hope that it doesn't desert you. Kohli's relationship with it isn't dissimilar.
Former Pakistani captain Waqar Younis feels that current Indian captain Virat Kohli can break several batting records in the forthcoming years. The former fast bowler pointed out that Kohli’s fitness plays a major role in his batting. "The way he is maintaining his fitness and the way he enjoys his game and focusses on his skill level, I think he is destined to break all batting records in the years to come," Waqar said. Younis, who resigned as Pakistan's head coach last year, said that Kohli’s commitment to fitness and improving his batting skills is what makes him stand out.
"The way I see it he should go on to achieve a lot of batting records," Waqar said.
Kohli has been in sensational form since the start of 2016 when he hit two hundred in the five-match ODI series against Australia before breaking several other records. He scored 973 runs including four hundred in 2016 IPL and the records that he created in 2017 need no introduction to a cricket fan. He wasn’t a part of the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka to take out time for his own marriage.

AHMEDABAD/SHIMLA: It is 2-0 to the BJP, which has swept Himachal Pradesh and has also won Gujarat again, though by a decidedly lower margin of victory than last time. BJP leaders said the lower numbers in Gujarat are not a setback, what matters is winning. Party chief Amit Shah said an eight per cent gap between the BJP and Congress' vote share cannot be scoffed at. Rahul Gandhi has conceded defeat saying his party "accepts the verdict."

"Those who entertain such superstitions have no right to be the chief minister", Modi said in Noida.
Adityanath visited Noida twice in three days rubbishing a widely believed myth in UP's political and bureaucratic circles that a chief minister visiting Noida would face problems retaining his or her post.
In the city to inaugurate the Metro's Magenta line, Modi pointed to the saffron robed Adityanath and said that looking at his dress, the CM appeared to be superstitious, but had actually shown that he had the courage to break superstitions.
